HEMAYAT Project: Helping Mothers and Children Thrive (HEMAYAT) Project is a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) cooperative agreement to support the introduction, scale-up and sustainability of high-impact FP/MNCH interventions in Afghanistan. The Project will increase access to, utilization of and demand for high-quality, gender-sensitive and sustainable FP/MNCH services provided by the Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and the private sector. The Project emphasizes reaching vulnerable populations with high-quality services, especially women, youth and rural Afghans. The project is implemented by Jhpiego Corporation as the prime awardee in collaboration with FHI 360, the Palladium Group and Afghan Social Marketing Organization (ASMO). The project has the following four key objectives:

Objective 1: Increased access to and availability of gender-sensitive, sustainable health services at facility and community levels

Objective 2: Improve the quality of equitable, gender-sensitive FP/MNCH services

Objective 3: Increase community, household and individual demand for health services

Objective 4: Strengthen Ministry of Public Health’s stewardship of family planning, maternal newborn, and child health programs

ASMO is involved in carrying out activities under objectives 1 and 3 of HEMAYAT project.
