About ASMO



The Afghan Social Marketing Organization (ASMO) is a social marketing and behavioral change communication organization established in 2008 as a key output of the USAID-funded COMPRI-A Social Marketing Project (2006-2012).  Today, it is a free-standing, not-for-profit Afghan organization that aims to create positive health outcomes by giving Afghan households the information they need to make informed and healthy choices and expanding access to high quality health products through commercial markets.  ASMO’s core functions are to commercialize targeted health products through market analysis and research, media campaigns, and private sector distribution channels, increasing national access to important existing and new health products. It supports sales of its branded products through national communications campaigns using radio and TV media, mobile cinema, information and education campaigns with local community groups and printed collateral. ASMO works in cooperation with the MoPH complementing the Government of Afghanistan’s public sector efforts in implementing its Community Based Health Care program.
