The goals of the Product Sales and Increased Access component are sustained consumer behavior change through access to the locally available, high quality and affordable health products within the private retail marketplace, and the consumer’s regular use of ASMO’s health products.  This requires the development of a robust and responsive national market with extensive reach to the underserved areas of Afghanistan.  The key to increasing access and sustained product usage by consumers over time is ensuring widespread availability of the products through aggressive, cost-effective distribution into remote areas to wholesaler outlets and major distributors to local retail pharmacies at the community level and made convenient to purchase by the consumer after being motivated to act on his/her newly acquired awareness of positive behavior change for the future good of the family. Our products which include birth spacing, safe water systems, dehydration prevention therapy and iron folate products are all positioned as affordable, high quality and easily accessible at the community level and represent value of consumer’s choice to protect their families.

Super marketWith innovative sales approaches and tecchniques, expanded brand awareness through mass media communication campaigns, expanded retail outlet access through broader wholesaler and distributor reach, and the availability of more highly trained and qualified private sector health providers, ASMO Sales Team was able to continue to increase unit sales of all the socially marketed health products within Afghanistan despite the growing security threat throughout the country and the restricted movement of Sales Representatives in many districts outside the major cities and semi-urban hubs.
